Woo Hoo, I mean, Oh No!

February 27, 2007

So I’m having a few conflicting internal issues. As many of you may or may not know, I am a Christian. I believe the Bible to be the word of God. One book within the Bible that I think really applies to our generation is The Book of Revelation. This is the most significant book, in my opinion, because it tells of the return of Christ. Now, with that background, we get onto the internal strife.

I’ve read news headlines and news articles about the events of the world. More specifically, the nation of Israel and the struggles they are going through. Recently, a news article where a member of an Islamic organization threatened “open war” with Israel and the hatred of the US. This is not a unique news article and anyone that hasn’t been living in a hole or in isolation for the last 7 years knows we are basically seeing a war that could be the start of the events listed in the Book of Revelations.

Here is my internal strife. I have heard some prayers of other people that cry to God to bring their loved one’s home safely, to end the war, to help create peace, etc. While I simpathize with these prayers, I also rejoice at some of the news. Not that people are dying, but because we are seeing prophecy being fulfilled right before us. We are seeing what could possibly be the beginning of the end of this era and the move on to the 1,000 year reign of Christ. So, while hearing of the loss of life or the struggles that people go through is disheartening, it is also with a bit of rejoicing that we are seeing these things predicted.

Am I wrong to rejoice at the bad news or is it actually good news? Is it wrong to be happy to see the fulfillment of the events that will lead to the 2nd coming and the 1,000 year reign? It will get worse before it gets better, that much we know. When it does get better, it will be wonderful.

Anyway, having a few mixed emotions. I hate to see people so angry. It is upsetting to see death and destruction. I love to see the Bible prophecies fulfilled and openly anticipate the conclusion of the Book of Revelations.
